Here’s a video recap of our announcement last week that Facebook will build an additional four buildings on our site here in Los Lunas, creating a six-building data center campus! Please take a look also at the construction underway and the 30-megawatt solar generation project is currently being installed by two Albuquerque companies.

Thanks to everyone who attended, and the 800 workers on site daily, 80 percent of who are from New Mexico.

Facebook broke ground on the Los Lunas Data Center in October 2016 — and from that moment, They we have been committed to two core tenets: having a positive impact on the community and creating one of the most advanced and energy-efficient data centers in the world.

For phase one of our data center, two buildings and an admin space are under construction — totaling 970,000 square feet. The State of New Mexico and the Village of Los Lunas have been tremendous partners, and we have an outstanding construction workforce on site. In fact, that workforce is made up of nearly 800 workers daily, with 80 percent of them from New Mexico. Additionally, a 30-megawatt solar generation project is currently being installed by two Albuquerque companies.

Because of this success, we are thrilled to announce even more good news: We will build an additional four buildings on the site, creating a six-building data center campus. With the addition of these four buildings, we are adding nearly 2 million square feet to the Los Lunas Data Center and are directly investing more than $1 billion into the site. We expect this expansion to keep construction crews busy for years to come — well into 2023 — and support more full-time jobs as the data center comes online. The new buildings will continue in the footsteps of the two currently under construction, featuring the latest in Open Compute Project server, storage, and network designs. The entire campus will be powered with 100 percent clean and renewable energy — thanks to the new renewable energy tariff we worked extensively with Public Service Company of New Mexico to design and implement.

The Los Lunas Data Center is on target to be one of the most advanced and energy-efficient data center facilities in the world.

Once again, we extend our thanks and appreciation to Governor Martinez, as well as our federal, state, and local partners, for their continuing support. And our appreciation also goes out to the entire Los Lunas community, who have helped make the town and this beautiful area our home in every way.
